Bioconversion of lignite power plant emissions to fuels and fine chemicals (ΒΙΟΜΕΚ)

The project will investigate the valorization of CO₂ from PPC steam power plant emissions through their non-photosynthetic biotransformation to fine chemicals or biofuels via fermentation of metabolically engineered extremophile microbes. This is a collaborative project between TRSC / PPC and FORTR / ICE-HT funded by GSRT. The inventor of this method, Professor Gregory Stephanopoulos from MIT (USA) participates as scientific advisor to this project.
