Ioannis D. Apostolopoulos

Ioannis D. Apostolopoulos is an Electrical and Computer Technology Engineer with a Ph.D. in Medical Physics. He is currently a Postdoctoral Researcher at FORTH/ICE-HT and University of Thessaly. His Ph.D. thesis is focused on advanced Machine Learning methods in medical imaging. He has 39 publications in scientific journals and 19 in conference proceedings. He has 6 years of research experience, participating in 13 research funded projects. He possesses expertise ranging from conventional Machine Learning techniques like Decision Trees and Support Vector Machines to advanced Neural Networks such as Generative Adversarial Networks, Vision Transformers, and Long-short Term Memory networks. His competencies extend to Explainable Artificial Intelligence, employing Fuzzy Cognitive Maps and various explainability-enhancing methods.
